Emergency Response Plan

The Emergency Response Plan (ERP) provides clear procedures to protect students, staff, visitors, and university property during emergencies. It applies to all university buildings, grounds, personnel, contractors, and visitors, covering natural and man-made threats, including fires, earthquakes, medical incidents, and security risks.

Emergency Levels:

Level 1 – Minor: Managed internally, no threat to life; response within 3–5 minutes.

Level 2 – Moderate: May affect operations or safety; internal teams supported by external services; response within 5–10 minutes.

Level 3 – Major: Serious threat; external emergency services involved; immediate coordination within 20 minutes.

Key Roles:

Emergency Coordinator: Oversees all responses.

Evacuation Team: Guides safe exits and assembly.

First Aid Team: Provides initial medical care.

Fire Safety Team: Manages fire response and exits.

Security Team: Maintains order and liaises with authorities.

General Procedures:

Fire: Activate alarm, call emergency number, evacuate, gather at assembly points.

Earthquake: Take cover indoors; evacuate only if instructed.

Medical Emergency: Call emergency number, provide first aid, keep area clear.

Suspicious Activity: Report immediately; follow security instructions.

Evacuation & Communication:

Maps and assembly points are posted and known to all staff.

Special assistance is provided for persons with disabilities.

Alerts sent via SMS, email, or loudspeaker; hotline available for critical incidents.

Training & Review:

Fire drills twice a year; emergency team training annually; awareness sessions for staff and students.

Plan reviewed every two years or after major incidents; updates approved by senior management.

Document Management:

Copies available in all departments and online.

Staff are responsible for knowing their emergency roles.
