Sewage and Water Management

UOWA operates sustainable sewage treatment, recycling wastewater for irrigation and landscaping.
Current Practices:
•    70% of campus sewage treated on-site
•    Treated water reused for green spaces, supporting soil fertility and reducing chemical fertilisers
•    Eco-conscious landscaping with drought-resistant plants
Future Plans:
•    Expand STP capacity by 2026 (+20% treatment)
•    Real-time water quality monitoring (pH, BOD, turbidity)
•    Awareness campaigns for students and staff
Impact:
•    Supports SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities)
•    Reduces environmental footprint and promotes circular water use
