2025

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa is proud to publish its 2025 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Report, prepared by the Sustainability Office in full accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (Revised Edition) — the globally recognised framework for institutional emissions accounting.

 Key Results for 2025:

Total emissions: 674 tCO₂ — a 6.9% reduction from 724 tCO₂ in 2024

Scope 1 (direct, diesel generators): 440 tCO₂ — down 9.3%

Scope 2 (purchased grid electricity): 109 tCO₂ — down 3.5%

Scope 3 (off-campus fuel, air travel, commuting): 125 tCO₂

Emissions intensity: 0.067 tCO₂ per student — a 16.3% improvement, used directly in QS World University Sustainability Rankings benchmarking

Water consumption: 298,000 m³ — a 7.5% reduction from 2024

The reductions achieved in 2025 reflect the deployment of an 18,000 kWh rooftop solar photovoltaic system, a campus-wide LED lighting upgrade, a staff ridesharing platform, wastewater reuse for all landscape irrigation, and the first-ever commuting emissions survey, which established a new Scope 3 baseline.

Looking ahead, UOWA has adopted formally approved emission reduction targets, including a 15% reduction in Scope 1+2 emissions by 2027, 50% renewable electricity by 2030, and net-zero Scope 1+2 by 2040 — in alignment with SDG 7, SDG 12, SDG 13, and SDG 6.
