Social Sustainability

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa hosts an Annual Sustainability Awareness Workshop,"Sustainability & Society: Understanding Our Role" open to all faculty members, professional staff, and students. The workshop provides an accessible and engaging introduction to sustainability in its broadest sense, with a particular focus on the social dimension and UOWA's own institutional commitments.

The workshop is structured around three thematic sessions:

• Introduction to Sustainability & the SDGs, covering the three pillars of sustainability (social, economic, environmental), the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and Iraq's commitment to the 2030 Agenda

• Social Sustainability in Higher Education, exploring community responsibility, equity and inclusion, education for sustainable development, and social cohesion on campus, with direct links to SDG 4, SDG 10, and SDG 16

• UOWA's Sustainability Vision, presenting the University's commitments across curriculum, research, campus operations, community engagement, and governance, and identifying the practical role of every staff member and student

The workshop concludes with an open Q&A session and the distribution of Certificates of Participation to all attendees.

Participants leave with a clear understanding of how their daily actions, in teaching, research, and campus life, contribute to a more just, inclusive, and sustainable institution and community.
