In response to the rising prevalence of smoking and the proliferation of smoking cafés in Karbala, the University of Warith AlAnbiyaa (peace be upon him) is committed to becoming a fully smoke-free institution. Recognizing the significant health risks associated with smoking, the university’s leadership has prioritized the cultivation of a smoke-free culture across all campus facilities. This initiative not only aims to protect the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff from the adverse effects of active and second-hand smoke—scientifically proven to pose comparable health risks—but also aligns with our broader mission of promoting sustainable, health-conscious environments. Furthermore, instilling smoke-free values prepares students for professional engagement in smoke-free workplaces such as hospitals, junior, and higher secondary educational institutions, enhancing their readiness for global professional standards and contributing to our institutional sustainability and global ranking objectives.
