Promoting Conscious Water Usage in the Wider Community

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (UOWA) extended its commitment to water awareness and responsible water use beyond the university campus during 2025through educational workshops, public awareness activities and engagement with community-oriented initiatives addressing water scarcity and sustainable water management.

Global Water Crisis Workshop

In February 2025, UOWA hosted an online educational workshop entitled “Global Water Crisis”, led by Assistant Professor Dr Tahseen Abdulrahman Al-Badri.

The workshop addressed global and local water scarcity, the impacts of climate change on water resources, and the importance of sustainable water-resource management. The session provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges associated with water availability and responsible resource use, while connecting academic knowledge with practical water-management challenges.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about water conservation and encouraging sustainable approaches to the use and protection of water resources.

Water Awareness Lectures and Educational Activities

Throughout 2025, UOWA supported water-awareness activities addressing water scarcity, responsible water consumption, water conservation, sustainable irrigation and the protection of water resources.

Educational lectures and awareness activities provided opportunities to communicate water-related knowledge beyond purely academic settings and to connect university expertise with community concerns. The activities encouraged greater understanding of the importance of responsible water use and the need to reduce unnecessary water consumption.

UOWA also encouraged student participation in sustainability-oriented activities and community engagement initiatives, allowing students to contribute to awareness of environmental challenges and sustainable resource management.

Participation in Iraqi Water Week 2025

From 11–17 March 2025, UOWA participated in Iraqi Water Week 2025, organized by Humat Dijlah (The Tigris River Protectors Association).

The initiative included workshops, policy discussions and public awareness activities addressing water challenges, water conservation and community participation. UOWA’s participation provided an opportunity to engage with wider discussions on Iraq’s water challenges and the importance of collective action to protect water resources.

The activities addressed the importance of responsible water use, sustainable management of water resources and strengthening public awareness of water-related challenges facing Iraqi communities.

Community and Environmental Awareness

UOWA also supported broader environmental-awareness activities addressing responsible water use, waste reduction and sustainable irrigation practices. These activities connected university knowledge and sustainability education with wider community concerns related to water availability and conservation.

Through public-oriented educational engagement, workshops, lectures and participation in water-awareness initiatives, UOWA contributed to promoting a culture of responsible water use and greater awareness of the importance of protecting water resources.

Continuing Commitment

UOWA continues to promote water awareness through education, community engagement and practical sustainability initiatives. By connecting academic expertise with public awareness and community-oriented activities, the university seeks to contribute to greater understanding of water scarcity and encourage responsible water use within the wider community.
