Water Management Educational Opportunities

Throughout 2025, the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (UOWA) implemented a series of continuous educational and community awareness activities focused on water management, water conservation, responsible water consumption, and the protection of water resources.

These activities reflect UOWA’s commitment to integrating water sustainability into its educational and community engagement activities and to extending awareness beyond the university campus. The programme involved active contributions from university colleges and departments, particularly the College of Engineering and the College of Nursing, which played an effective role in delivering educational activities addressing water conservation.

A key component of these efforts was the university’s engagement with primary and intermediate schools. This approach recognises school students as an important foundation for building a sustainable society and as the generation of the future. Through age-appropriate educational activities, students were introduced to the importance of water resources, responsible consumption, and practical approaches to water conservation.

During 2025, the community water conservation awareness activities reached five schools, including two primary schools and three intermediate schools. The programme extended throughout the year, demonstrating the university’s continued engagement in promoting water conservation awareness within the local educational community.

In addition to the school-based activities, UOWA conducted an online educational workshop entitled “Global Water Crisis” in February 2025, led by Assistant Professor Dr Tahseen Abdulrahman Al-Badri. The workshop was conducted as part of a regular series of educational and awareness-raising workshops addressing water management, water scarcity, and sustainable water-resource practices.

The workshop addressed major global and local challenges related to water scarcity, with particular attention to the effects of climate change and the importance of sustainable water-resource management. It also explored the relationship between water availability, environmental change, responsible resource use, and sustainable approaches to water management.

The activity was designed to engage both the university community and the local community, with registration open to members of the local community. A total of 57 participants attended the workshop, providing an additional example of UOWA’s efforts to extend water-related education and awareness to the wider community.

UOWA follows an integrated institutional approach to supporting colleges that undertake sustainability and community engagement activities. Through this approach, colleges are encouraged and supported to contribute to community education on environmental issues, including water conservation and responsible water use.
