Reduce and Reuse Initiatives

UOWA encourages reusable materials and digital solutions to minimise disposable waste.
Key Actions:
•    Staff ceramic mugs, student reusable water bottles
•    Water dispensers and reusable cafeteria packaging
•    Digital platforms and online assignment submission reduce paper use
•    Double-sided printing, draft paper reuse, and email/online communication
Impact:
•    Paper use reduced from 100 tons (2024) to 87 tons (2025)
•    Plastic use reduced from 58 tons (2024) to 52 tons (2025)
•    Contributes directly to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production)
Future Plans:
•    Campus-wide refill stations
•    Department-level audits for printing and cafeteria consumption
•    Increased hybrid/online learning to reduce printed materials
