The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (UoWA) has a planned programme to raise the energy efficiency of its existing buildings, combining equipment upgrades with preventive maintenance. Maintenance covers routine inspection and servicing of HVAC systems, chillers and boilers, filter cleaning, recalibration of controls, testing of lighting controls and sensors, and building-level energy-performance checklists whose results feed the university's energy-monitoring systems.
The university's green-procurement and equipment-upgrade requirements prioritise LED lighting, high-efficiency variable-speed HVAC systems, and energy-efficient IT and laboratory equipment.
Upgrades Completed in 2025
• Lighting: more than 2,100 LED lamps installed to replace conventional lighting.
• Air conditioning: 200 of 250 identified units converted to variable-speed inverter models (80%).
• Ceiling fans: all 200 identified fans replaced with high-efficiency, low-power models (100%).
• IT and laboratory equipment: energy-efficient equipment and low-energy standby settings introduced across laboratories and offices.
